Bruno Robbe, imprimeur et éditeur
16.05 – 25.09
Vernissage 15.05 from 18:00
In Rue de la Liberté in Frameries lies Bruno Robbe’s “image laboratory”.
Since the 1950s, the workshop founded by his grandfather Arthur Robbe has welcomed artists from around the world. The creations are primarily focused on multiples and artist’s books. The techniques offered include lithography and intaglio, as well as more contemporary tools like photo-lithography and digital imaging.
In 2000, Bruno Robbe established his own editions and hosted internationally renowned personalities in his workshop, such as Ann-Veronica Janssens, Édith Dekyndt, Peter Downsbrough, Matt Mullican, Jim Shaw, Lawrence Weiner, Michel François, and also emerging artists (Rémy Hans, Raphaël Decoster, Benoit Bastin, Priscilla Beccari, Lauriane Belin, etc.).
Additionally, the workshop collaborates with numerous contemporary art galleries and museums that seek his expertise in printing (MACS Grand-Hornu, MHKA Antwerp, SMAK Ghent, MoMA New York, Louis Vuitton Editions Paris, Centre Pompidou Paris, etc.).
Wittockiana entrusts a carte blanche to this remarkable publisher, who, for the occasion, has invited his friend and visual artist Boris Beaucarne. Together, they take over the museum’s large display window to present a selection of books and prints created in the famous workshop.
Discover the works of Raphaël Decoster, Juan d’Oultremont, Priscilla Beccari, Michel François, Bertrand Belin, Peter Downsbrough, Rémy Hans, Charley Case, Bruno Vande Graaf, Bernard Villers, Walter Swennen, Rodolphe Burger, Jacques Julien, François Curlet, Léon Wuidar, Didier Mahieu, Jacques Charlier, Lawrence Weiner…
A brand new publication has also been designed by Bruno Robbe and Boris Beaucarne, echoing the installation of the large display window (ed. Wittockiana).
